It's probably my favorite outdoor activity. Of course I'm attracted to all things outdoors and it ties in quite nicely with all of those, i.e. canoing, hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing. There's just something about it that drives me to want to do it. It's as if it's a natural instinct in me or something.

I have a core group of three friends that I go camping with in the spring of each year. Each year we end up with one or two extra people that are usually less experienced than we are at it. By the end of several days in the woods it's obvious that the new folks have discovered something they love too!

If you've never tried it then be assured, you're in for a real treat. For me it's a way to get quiet and simple and be truly away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I happen to work in a major urban area and when I can get the opportunity to travel across a bunch of lakes and several portages, I jump at it!
