Coleman tents...When it comes to family camping, Coleman tents are likely the most popular choice for most people. Like everything else that Coleman offers, their tents are excellent value for the money and they make tents for everybody whether you want a large multiroom tent for your family, or even if just yourself and a friend are going for a weekend away.
Also like other Coleman products, their tents are fairly robust and have been built with family usage in mind. They're an excellent choice for some one taking young kids on their first camping trip as they're cheaper than what you'll find at outfitter, and a little more "heavy duty" to handle the traffic of kids going in and out.
Their tents are not always an excellent choice if you're a hiker and are concerned about weight and packability though. Most times their tents will be fine but because their tents are more robust they're often larger and heavier when packed. Also they're not suited to winter camping and more extreme conditions such as high winds. They are generally taller in profile which makes them react more to high winds, not to mention they usually have fewer poles so they are less rigid and able to cave in in the high wind scenario. On the other hand, their taller profile makes it nicer for doing things like getting dressed and for just feeling like you have room in general to do things, sprawl room if you will. At any rate, if you're a once a year camper or your camping from your car with your family then the Coleman tents are likely the best value for the money. They'll give you room, keep you dry, and live in the memories of your children for a long time to come.
