Cheap Camping Holiday...

If you’re looking for a cheap camping holiday then you should consider giving back country camping a try. It really is the biggest bang for the buck when it comes to getting away from it all and is a truly a vacation like no other. You need to have the gear of course, but once you start camping like this you’ll see that it’s not only the cheapest type of camping going, but will create memories that you will have forever.

Back country camping is my favorite type of camping trip, for several reasons. You may find you have different reasons than me but I’m happy to let you know mine.

First of all, I love to buy camping equipment. I don’t go out and spend my money all at once, but rather a bit at a time, until I have what I need. For back country camping you can count on needing the essential camping equipment, a tent, sleeping bag, Thermarest mattress, backpack, camping stove, water filter, lantern of some sort etc. Beyond that you can pretty much bring whatever you think you’ll need for food, clothing and whatever else you can think of.

What makes back country camping a cheap camping holiday is the fact that once you’re prepped, you really don’t have to spend any money. There are remote lakes and forests all over the world that are waiting to be explored by people like you and me. There’s something to be said for paddling across four lakes and hiking miles into the bush with a friend. When you get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life the quiet of nature can be amazing. You don’t have to pay for a site if you know where to go. There will likely be no need to pay for parking or anything like that. Simply bring the gear you already own and bed down. It’s funny but this very quiet seems to be something that everybody enjoys. Every time I camp with somebody new it’s the same thing, they simply can’t wait to go again.

I personally prefer this type of camping and have even taken my young son back country camping. You don’t have to deal with rowdy campers that may be at a nearby site as you may in the case of a family camp ground. The downside of course is that you’re not blessed with the advantage of having facilities to wash up in etc. This is easily taken care of course by bringing along some biodegradable soap to wash up with.
